Quebec City is the most European looking city in North America. It has beautiful and charming little roads or rues as the French speakers call it. Lots of great restaurants and gorgeous buildings.
In this post, we’ll show you a glimpse of the places where your walking tour guide can take you during your visit.

The icon of Quebec : Fairmont Le Château Frontenac
Commonly referred to as the Château Frontenac, it is situated in Old Quebec, in the Upper Town. Around the building, you will find several major historic attactions (will give you more details about them further down the page).

Quebec's fortification : La Citadelle
The Citadelle is only a few minute walking distance from the Château Frontenac and it has so much to offer to its visitors. It’s situated stop Cap Diamand, just right beside the Plains of Abraham. The Citadelle contains the oldest military building in Canada.
Did you know that La Citadelle is still an active military installation and it gives home for the Governor General of Canada?
Oh, and did we mentioned that you have a stunning view of Quebec, the Château Frontenac and the St. Lawrence river from the Citadelle?
More than just a park : Plains of Abraham
This is the famous park where the Battle of Plains of Abraham took place in 1759 between the French and the British soldiers (you can learn more about the history of the battle in the museum that is just beside the park).
The prettiest street in town : Petit Champlain
The main street is Rue de Petit-Champlain and it has so many great local artists workshops and restaurant. Probably this is one of the most photographed street in Quebec City.

The oldest staircase : Breakneck Steps
Quebec City’s oldest stairway. The Breakneck stairs or Breakneck Steps (in French : Escalier casse-cou) were built in 1635 and have been restored several time since.
Did you know that the local residents gave it the name Breakneck because of the steep incline?
All the politics : the beautiful Parliament Building
The Parliament Building (French: Hôtel du Parlement) is an eight-floor building in Quebec City and home to the Parliament of Quebec. The building was designed by architect Eugène-Étienne Taché and was built from 1877 to 1886.
Did you know that the facade has 22 statues of major people of the province’s history?
Where it all begun : the Place Royale
The Place Royale is the place where Samuel de Champlain launched the construction of a fortified post in 1608. With this act, he created the oldest permanent French settlement in North America.
Did you know that the Place Royale was classified World Heritage by the UNESCO in 1985?
